On November 03rd 2016, the Economics Department reported a topic of “The impact of TPP&AEC – Opportunities and challenges for Accounting and Auditing”. The aim of this program is creating the opportunities for lecturers and students to exchange knowledge, expertise in teaching and research field. 

Joining the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPP) is an important milestone of Vietnam in 2015. The main purpose of the TPP is to uniform general rules, create a closely economic relation between the member countries; therefore, enhancing the exchange of goods and services by the solutions of reducing the tariff barriers. Besides that, the establishment of ACE also is a great achievement in the process of formation, integration and development of ESEAN for nearly 50 years. The purpose of this strategic is to form a common market for member countries that includes five important components such as free in goods movement, free in services providing, free in investment and capital, free in skilled labor movement.

Participants in this event included: Ass.Prof.Dr. Dang Van Thanh (Reporter) – Chairman of Vietnam association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA), Mr. Phan Thanh Mien – Chairman of Nghe An Province Association of small and medium enterprises, Ass.Prof.Dr. Bui Van Dung – Dean of the Economics Department as well as all the lecturers and students of the Accounting major.

Next, for the main part of this event, Ass.Prof.Dr. Dang Van Thanh gave an overview of the formation and development of accounting and auditing in Vietnam. Besides that, he also pointed out the professional organizations of accountants and auditors such as Vietnam Association of Accountants and Auditors (VAA). VAA is a member of the following organizations: Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), ASEAN Federation of Accountants (AFA), Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA). In addition, he emphasized three innovation requirements of accountants, auditors in the integration period include: Professionalism and society responsibility; Professional capacity (Skill, organization and administration qualify) and Professional ethics (objective and bravery).

In the next part, referring to the topic of the impact of the TPP and ACE, Ass.Prof.Dr. Dang Van Thanh pointed out four issues about free services market, free in skilled labor movement, recognizing practicing certificate and quality control of organization. Furthermore, he emphasized four challenges about training program and content; certification CPA, CA, CFA; Number of professional accountants and service quality.

Finally, Ass.Prof.Dr. Dang Van Thanh answered the questions of students, especially the final year students. He also encouraged them to find a job after graduation to become professional accountants, auditors. To end of this event, he underlined that higher education gives students the background knowledge, therefore, to be successful, students have to train, nurture skills, experiences, especially in the integration period.
